History of Pleasures N Treasures

The story of Pleasures N Treasures surprisingly starts with one man distributing adult DVDs from the trunk of his car. Alain Elmaleh would drive around the Maritimes, selling these films to his customers. However, realizing that he could have more control over his DVD sales, he decided that the next best move would be to open his own store. And in the mid-1980s is when he took the plunge into launching his very first store in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Here is where the real success story starts. Making a significant profit in his first month, Elmaleh found that he could expand. He decided to sell adult toys and lingerie as well as DVDs, which was still his main focus. Starting small to test the waters, Elmaleh started selling a curated selection of sexual wellness products and pieces of lingerie. He opened another store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and the thought of stopping didn’t even cross his mind. Pleasures N Treasures only continued to scale up.

Jumping forward to 2011, there are now more stores spanning across Nova Scotia and bridging into New Brunswick. The focus of these stores shifted from selling DVDs to toys and lingerie, even branching out to lubes too.

It was after taking on well known, reputable suppliers from around the world, like Orion and Pipedreams, Pleasures N Treasures solidified itself as a staple in the world of adult novelty stores throughout Canada. With larger stores than ever, PNT was selling toys, lingerie, lube, DVDs, and more to customers across the country. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Québec all have multiple stores, and the rest of the country knows the online store.

Here we are in 2024 with 16 stores and one of the vastest adult toy online inventories in North America. And the exciting thing is that we only want to continue growing! We are determined to offer as many people as possible the freedom to explore their kinkiest sides.

Understanding that new and exciting products are always on the horizon, Pleasures N Treasures is ready to bring all of these incredible innovations to you, our valued customers.
